PM Shehbaz Sharif Hails Trump as “A Symbol of Peace”

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called former US President Donald Trump a “man of peace” and announced that Pakistan has nominated him again for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.

The statement was made during the International Summit on Gaza, held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, where world leaders gathered to discuss global peace efforts.

Sharif said:

Translation: “Today is one of the greatest days in modern history, because President Trump’s tireless efforts have opened a new chapter for peace.”

He added:

Translation: “Trump has worked relentlessly so that the whole world can move toward peace and prosperity. He truly is a symbol of peace.”

Trump’s Role in South Asia’s Peace Efforts

According to Sharif, Trump has played a significant part in easing tensions between India and Pakistan, helping to move the two nuclear-armed neighbors toward dialogue and stability.

He recalled that Pakistan had previously nominated Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, and this year’s renewed nomination reflects his continuing role in peace and diplomacy.

Global Recognition and the Nobel Debate

Donald Trump’s nomination from Pakistan adds to the growing global recognition of his peace efforts. Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and members of Israel’s parliament had also declared Trump worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.

This shows how Trump’s efforts for Middle East peace have gained international praise and political acknowledgment.

Nobel Prize 2025: Awarded to María Corina Machado

While Donald Trump received renewed support for the Nobel nomination, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to María Corina Machado, a Venezuelan leader known for her fight for democracy.

In her speech, Machado mentioned Trump’s crucial support:

Translation: “I dedicate this honor to the people of Venezuela, for whom we are fighting, and to President Trump, who has been a steadfast supporter of our movement.”

A Touching Conversation Between Trump and Machado

After the Nobel announcement, Machado reportedly called Trump to tell him that he was the true recipient of the honor.

Trump told reporters:

Translation: “Machado called me and said, ‘I’m accepting this award in your honor because you truly deserve it.’ It was a unique and touching moment.”

He humorously added:

Translation: “I didn’t tell her to give me the prize instead, but I think she might have if I had asked. Machado is a very polite and generous person.”

Nobel Committee’s Statement and Global Meaning

The Norwegian Nobel Committee explained that the award honors “brave defenders of freedom” who stand up against authoritarian rule and fight for democracy.

Their statement emphasized that courageous leadership remains essential in protecting human rights and democratic values around the world.

A Broader Message of Peace

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s praise for Trump highlights the growing need for global cooperation in resolving conflicts. The recognition also reignites debate over modern peace leadership and what it means to maintain stability in an increasingly divided world.

In regions like India and Pakistan, where long-standing tensions persist, such peace initiatives send a powerful message encouraging dialogue and understanding.

Sharif’s remarks remind the world that peace cannot be achieved by one nation alone—it requires the collective effort of all leaders and their people.
