Ayesha Siddiqua Meghla made her comments in response to the recent abduction and rape of a 13-year-old madrasa student by a Hindu youth. She expressed frustration that the incident received little attention compared to other cases.
She wrote,
“কলকাতায় ধর্ষণ হলে বাংলাদেশ থেকে প্রতিবাদ জানানো হয়৷ অথচ বাংলাদেশে ১৩ বছরের একজন শিশু তিন দিন ধরে ধর্ষিত হওয়ার বিচার চাওয়া হয় না। সেটা নিয়ে মিডিয়ায় প্রতিবাদ দেখি না। রাস্তায় মানুষ দেখি না। কারণ সে ‘মাদ্রাসার শিক্ষার্থী’।”
Translation: “When a rape happens in Kolkata, people in Bangladesh protest. But when a 13-year-old girl is raped for three days in Bangladesh, there is no demand for justice, no media protest, no people on the streets — because she is a madrasa student.”
“আপনার ব্যবসা এখন অনলাইনে— Storola-এর সাথে সহজ ও স্মার্টভাবে!”
She further criticized the difference in how perpetrators are identified in news reports:
“মসজিদের ইমাম ধর্ষণ করলে নিউজের হেডিং এ ‘ইমাম’ শব্দ থাকে। কিন্তু মন্দির কমিটির কেউ ধর্ষণ করলে সেটা ‘এক লোক’ হয়।”
Translation: “When an imam commits rape, the news headline includes the word ‘imam.’ But when a temple committee member commits rape, it just says ‘a man.’”
“সাধারণ ডিম বিক্রি করে আমরা কীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষ কাস্টমার এনেছি—এই বইয়ে আছে তার বাস্তব কাহিনি!”
Ayesha Siddiqua Meghla also spoke about double standards in feminist movements and social reactions:
“যখন কোনো নারীকে ‘ওড়না কই’, ‘এত বড় টিপ কেন কপালে’, ‘মেয়েরা রাস্তায় কেন সিগারেট খাবে’ বলে মব তৈরি করা হয় সেটার প্রতিবাদ করে বিচার চাওয়া হয়। কিন্তু বোরকা পরা, নিকাব পরা মেয়েদের কেউ উত্তক্ত করলে সেটার প্রতিবাদ হয় না।”
Translation: “When mobs harass women for not wearing a scarf, for wearing a large tip, or for smoking, people protest and demand justice. But when women in burka or niqab are harassed, no one protests.”

She ended her post saying:
“ইমামের করা ধর্ষণ যেমন অপরাধ, মন্দির কমিটির এক সদস্যের ধর্ষণ করাও অপরাধ… অথচ আমরা কেবল এক সাইডের জন্য প্রতিবাদ করতে দেখি।”
Translation: “Just as rape by an imam is a crime, rape by a temple committee member is also a crime… Yet we only see protests for one side.”
Ayesha Siddiqua Meghla called for equality in justice and awareness, urging society to rise above religious and ideological bias in condemning violence against women.
