A fire broke out at the Incepta Pharmaceuticals factory in Dhamrai, Dhaka, on Saturday evening, prompting a swift response from the local fire service. The incident occurred at the factory’s 9th building on the fourth floor, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit.

Fire Under Control Within an Hour

According to the Fire Service, three units from the Dhamrai Fire Station rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the alert around 6:30 PM. Using the hydrant system, they were able to bring the fire under control within an hour, preventing it from spreading to other sections of the factory.

Officials’ Statement

Dhamrai Fire Station Officer Sohel Rana said,

‘সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে ৬টার দিকে খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে যাই। আমাদের তিনটি ইউনিট এক ঘণ্টার চেষ্টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে সক্ষম হয়। বৈদ্যুতিক শর্ট সার্কিট থেকে আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয়েছে।’
Translation: We received the news around 6:30 in the evening and went to the scene. Our three units were able to control the fire within an hour. The fire originated from an electrical short circuit.

No Serious Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no major injuries have been reported in the incident. However, officials confirmed that the IPS system inside the affected section sustained significant damage.

Investigation Underway

Authorities stated that the extent of the losses would be determined after a detailed investigation. The Fire Service has praised the prompt action of their team, which helped minimize potential large-scale damage to one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.
