Body Recovered in Old Dhaka Building
On Sunday evening (19 October 2025), locals found a bloodied body on the stairs of a building in Armanitola-Mahuttoli, Old Dhaka, and informed the police. Authorities recovered the body immediately.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Zubayed Hossain, a 15th batch student of Jahangirnagar University (JU). He was also an executive committee member of the JU branch Chhatra Dal and the president of the JU Cumilla District Student Welfare Association.

Police Statement
Branch Officer-in-Charge of Banshal Police Station, Rafiqul Islam, confirmed the recovery. He said,
“ছুরিকাঘাতে জবি শিক্ষার্থী মারা গেছেন। ওইখানে তার টিউশনের বাসা ছিল। এখনও মৃত্যুর কারণ নিশ্চিত হওয়া যায়নি। আমরা তদন্ত করছি।”
Translation: “The JU student was killed in a stabbing. He had a tuition residence there. The exact cause of death is not yet confirmed. We are investigating.”

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and have not yet confirmed the motive behind the incident.
