Faruk’s Strong Statement Against Sheikh Hasina
BNP Chairperson’s Adviser and former Opposition Chief Whip Zainul Abdin Faruk said that there is “no power in the world that can bring Sheikh Hasina back to Bangladesh.”
He made this remark on Sunday while addressing a rally organized by the Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal, Dhaka North Unit, in front of the National Press Club. The rally was held to protest against the “conspiracy regarding the national election and the desecration of the Holy Quran.”
Criticism of Sheikh Hasina’s Politics
Addressing Sheikh Hasina directly, Zainul Abdin Faruk said,
“আপনি দেশে গণহত্যা চালাবেন, গণতন্ত্র ধ্বংস করবেন, ভারতীয় সমর্থনের ওপর নির্ভর করে রাজনীতি করবেন— আবার দেশে আসতে চাইবেন? তা হবে না।”
Translation: “You will commit genocide, destroy democracy, depend on Indian support for politics — and then want to return to the country? That will not happen.”
Zainul Abdin Faruk added that he doesn’t want a Bangladesh where basic rights like “My Vote, My Choice” cannot be practiced.
“আপনারা কি চান শেখ হাসিনা মোদির আশ্রয়ে আবার দেশে ফিরে এসে ফ্যাসিস্ট শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠা করুক? তা কখনোই হতে দেওয়া হবে না।”
Translation: “Do you want Sheikh Hasina to return under Modi’s shelter and establish another fascist regime? That will never be allowed.”
Allegation: Awami League is Serving India’s Interests
Faruk accused the Awami League of working for India’s benefit instead of the Bangladeshi people.
“তারা বাংলাদেশের মানুষের স্বার্থ নয়, বরং পার্শ্ববর্তী দেশের স্বার্থ রক্ষায় ব্যস্ত। তিস্তা নদীতে আমরা পানি পাই না, ফারাক্কা বাঁধ সময়মতো খোলে না, ফেলানির লাশ সীমান্তে ঝুলে থাকে— তারপরও তারা বলে, মোদি আমাদের বন্ধু! মোদি কখনো বাংলাদেশের বন্ধু হতে পারে না।”
Translation: “They don’t protect Bangladeshi interests but serve India’s. We don’t get Teesta water, the Farakka dam doesn’t open on time, and Felani’s body hangs at the border — yet they say Modi is our friend! Modi can never be Bangladesh’s friend.”
“আপনার ব্যবসা এখন অনলাইনে— Storola-এর সাথে সহজ ও স্মার্টভাবে!”
Accusation of Historical Distortion
Faruk claimed that the history of the 1971 Liberation War is being distorted.
“৭১ সালের যুদ্ধের সময় আমাদের স্বাধীনতার জন্য যারা লড়েছিলেন, আজ তাদের অনেককেই রাজাকার বলা হচ্ছে। মেজর জলিল, সিরাজ শিকদার— এরা দেশের জন্য জীবন বাজি রেখে কাজ করেছেন। অথচ আজ তাদের নাম বিকৃত করা হচ্ছে।”
Translation: “Those who fought for independence in 1971 are now being called collaborators. Major Jalil, Siraj Sikder — they risked their lives for the country, but now their names are being defamed.”
Comparison Between Mujib and Hasina Eras
Faruk alleged that both Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina suppressed people’s freedom.
“শেখ মুজিব স্বাধীনতার পর জনগণকে শান্তিতে থাকতে দেননি। সংবাদপত্র বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়েছিল… আজ শেখ হাসিনা সেই একই পথ অনুসরণ করছেন— ‘বাবা বাবা’ বলে সারা দেশে মূর্তি গড়ে তুলেছেন, অথচ মানুষের অধিকার হরণ করেছেন।”
Translation: “After independence, Sheikh Mujib didn’t let people live in peace. Newspapers were shut down… Now Sheikh Hasina follows the same path — building statues of her father while taking away people’s rights.”
“সাধারণডিমবিক্রিকরেআমরাকীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষকাস্টমারএনেছি—এইবইয়েআছেতারবাস্তবকাহিনি!”
“No Power Can Bring Her Back”
Faruk made a firm declaration about Sheikh Hasina’s political future:
“শেখ হাসিনা যতদিন ভারতীয় সমর্থনের ওপর নির্ভর করে রাজনীতি করবেন… আল্লাহর কসম, এমন কোনো শক্তি নেই যা তাকে আবার বাংলাদেশে ফিরিয়ে আনতে পারবে।”
Translation: “As long as Sheikh Hasina depends on Indian support and kills democracy and the people — by Allah, there is no power that can bring her back to Bangladesh.”

Call for Unity Among Opposition Parties
Faruk urged all opposition forces to come together against dictatorship.
“এখন আর বিভক্ত থাকার সময় নয়… ইনশাআল্লাহ হাসিনা আর কখনো ক্ষমতায় ফিরতে পারবে না।”
Translation: “This is no time to remain divided… Inshallah, Hasina will never return to power again.”
He concluded by mentioning the need for a fair election and appreciated Professor Muhammad Yunus’s call for polls in February.

The event was chaired by Hafiz Maulana Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Convener of the Olama Dal. Other BNP leaders who spoke included Rafiqul Islam Jamal, ATM Abdul Bari Danny, Maulana Kazi Alamgir Hossain, and Maulana Qari Golam Mostafa, along with many activists from different levels of the organization.
