Details of the Godman’s Arrest
A self-styled godman was taken into custody in Cuttack district, Odisha, following allegations that he sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl. Police reported the incident took place in the Kendupatna area. The victim was on her way to a local shop when the 50-year-old accused reportedly took her to a nearby mutt and committed the assault.

A case was promptly registered under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the Nandankanan police station, and the accused was immediately arrested. This incident follows closely on another high-profile case: the arrest of a 78-year-old godman and his 56-year-old associate on October 11 for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at their ashram in 2022.

Father kills man in Self-Defence
In a separate, tragic incident in Dhenkanal district, a man allegedly killed an individual who attempted to rape his 10-year-old daughter. The event occurred on a Sunday when the father and daughter were bathing in a canal near their village in the Parjang police station area.

After their bath, the girl walked a short distance away. A 27-year-old man allegedly attacked her. Upon hearing his daughter’s cries, the father intervened, striking the assailant with a rock and killing him instantly. The father subsequently surrendered to the police at the station.
