Mass Rally in Jeddah for Cumilla Division
Expatriates from the Greater Cumilla region living in Saudi Arabia held a mass gathering in Jeddah demanding the immediate implementation of Cumilla Division. The event was organized by the Greater Cumilla Samity and attended by a large number of Bangladeshi expatriates.
Event Leadership and Participants
Saudi expatriate A R Noman confirmed the rally details, saying that the meeting was presided over by Kazi Niamul Bashir, while Humayun Kabir conducted the session.
Among others, freedom fighter Moinuddin Bhuiyan, Jafar Parvez, A K Azad, and Hanis Sarkar were also present, along with many other expatriates from Greater Cumilla.
“সাধারণ ডিম বিক্রি করে আমরা কীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষ কাস্টমার এনেছি—এই বইয়ে আছে তার বাস্তব কাহিনি!”
Speakers’ Demands and Statements
Speakers at the gathering said Cumilla already meets all the necessary requirements to become a division and highlighted its geographical and economic importance.
“বিভাগ হতে যা কিছু প্রয়োজন, সবকিছুই কুমিল্লাতে রয়েছে।”
Translation: “Everything necessary to be a division already exists in Cumilla.”
“আপনার ব্যবসা এখন অনলাইনে— Storola-এর সাথে সহজ ও স্মার্টভাবে!”
They further added that the city’s position on both sides of the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway makes it one of the most strategically important locations in the country.
“ঢাকা চট্টগ্রাম মহাসড়কের দুই পাশে কুমিল্লা শহর হওয়ায় এটি দেশের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিভাগ হবে।”
Translation: “Since Cumilla city lies on both sides of the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway, it would be one of the most important divisions of the country.”

Warning from Expatriates
From the same rally, the expatriates issued a stern warning to the authorities. They announced that if the Cumilla Division is not declared soon, expatriates will call for a remittance shutdown as a form of protest.
“দ্রুত কুমিল্লাকে বিভাগ ঘোষোণা না করলে কুমিল্লা প্রবাসীরা রেমিট্যান্স শাটডাউনের ঘোষণা দেবে।”
Translation: “If Cumilla is not declared a division soon, expatriates will announce a remittance shutdown.”
