Country Needs an Elected Government
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the country needs a properly elected government to move forward.
He made the statement during the book launch of “Mahakaler Mahanayak Shaheed Zia” at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Dhaka on Thursday (October 23).
“দেশকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে এখন নির্বাচিত সরকার প্রয়োজন। কিন্তু কিছু রাজনৈতিক দল নির্বাচন পেছানোর চেষ্টা করছে।”
Translation: “The country needs an elected government to move forward. But some political parties are trying to delay the election.”
“আপনার ব্যবসা এখন অনলাইনে— Storola-এর সাথে সহজ ও স্মার্টভাবে!”
BNP Born Through Reforms
Fakhrul emphasized the historical significance of BNP and its founder Ziaur Rahman.
“সংস্কারের মধ্য দিয়ে বিএনপির জন্ম হয়েছে। জিয়াউর রহমান বহুদলীয় গণতন্ত্র চালু করেছিলেন। দেশের ভালো সবকিছু বিএনপির হাতে হয়েছে। কিন্তু এমনভাবে কথা বলা হয় যেন বিএনপি ভিলেন।”
Translation: “BNP was born through reforms. Ziaur Rahman introduced multi-party democracy. All the good things in the country have been in BNP’s hands. Yet people talk as if BNP is the villain.”

Ziaur Rahman’s Legacy and Nation-Building
Fakhrul praised Zia’s ability to attract people and build the nation. He also criticized attempts by the Awami League to erase Zia’s name from history.
“মানুষকে আকর্ষণ করার অসাধারণ ক্ষমতা ছিলো জিয়াউর রহমানের। জাতি গঠনে তিনি কাজ করেছেন। কিন্তু তার নাম মুছে ফেলার চেষ্টা করেছিলো আওয়ামী লীগ। ক্ষণজন্মা মানুষদের এতো সহজে মুছে ফেলা যায় না। জিয়াউর রহমানকে ইতিহাস ধারণ করেছে।”
Translation: “Ziaur Rahman had an extraordinary ability to attract people. He worked on nation-building. But the Awami League tried to erase his name. History cannot easily erase such a person. Ziaur Rahman is remembered in history.”
“সাধারণ ডিম বিক্রি করে আমরা কীভাবে ১৫ লক্ষ কাস্টমার এনেছি—এই বইয়ে আছে তার বাস্তব কাহিনি!”
Fakhrul noted that Tarique Rahman continues to follow the path shown by Ziaur Rahman for the country’s progress.
