Family of Metro Rail Accident Victim to Receive Tk 5 Lakh Compensation: Rail Adviser

Compensation Announced for Victim’s Family

Following the tragic Farmgate Metro Rail accident, the government has announced Tk 5 lakh compensation for the family of the deceased. The announcement was made by Fauzul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Ministry of Railways, during his visit to the accident site on Sunday afternoon (October 26).

Employment Assurance for the Victim’s Family

Fauzul Kabir Khan said that if any member of the victim’s family is capable of working, they will be offered a job in the Metro Rail project to help them rebuild their lives.

“মেট্রোরেলের বিয়ারিং প্যাড পড়ে নিহত ব্যক্তির পরিবারকে প্রাথমিকভাবে ৫ লাখ টাকা ক্ষতিপূরণ দেওয়া হবে। এছাড়া তার পরিবারে কর্মক্ষম কোনো ব্যক্তি যদি থাকে তাকে মেট্রোরেলে চাকরির ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।”

Translation: “The family of the person who died after a metro rail bearing pad fell will initially receive Tk 5 lakh in compensation. In addition, if there is any capable member in the family, he or she will be offered a job in the metro rail.”

Investigation Committee Formed

The adviser also confirmed that a five-member investigation committee has been formed, led by Bridge Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf.

বাংলায়: “দুর্ঘটনায় সেতু বিভাগের সচিব মোহাম্মদ আব্দুর রউফকে আহ্বায়ক করে ৫ সদস্যের তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে। আগামী দুই সপ্তাহের মধ্যে কমিটি তদন্ত প্রতিবেদন জমা দেবে।”

Translation: “A five-member investigation committee has been formed with Bridge Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf as the convener. The committee will submit its report within two weeks.”

Background of the Incident

On Saturday (October 25), a man was killed after a bearing pad fell from the Farmgate Metro Rail Station onto the road below. Following the incident, metro rail operations were temporarily suspended to ensure safety.
