Leadership and Vision
The newly formed party is led by Md Zakir Hossain, who serves as the chairman. He was joined by Md Aminul Islam as the General Secretary and Abdul Kader Bhuiyan as the Treasurer.
During his speech, Zakir Hossain said,
“Our main goal is to institutionalize democracy, protect people’s rights, establish economic balance, and ensure the rule of law to build a modern Bangladesh.”
He also mentioned that the party already has active committees in at least 20 districts and over 100 upazilas across the country.

District-Level Presence
Zakir Hossain added that nearly 70 to 80 members attended the launching ceremony while others stayed in their respective districts.
“Bringing everyone to Dhaka would only cause unnecessary traffic congestion,” he said with a smile.
This statement reflected a practical and disciplined approach, emphasizing local-level organization rather than central gatherings.
Party Structure and Election Goals
The leaders revealed that the party’s main political office is located in Shewrapara, Dhaka. However, they admitted that no official constitution has been finalized yet.
They also informed the media that they had applied to the Election Commission for registration under the “Rocket” symbol. Even if registration takes time, BUP leaders plan to contest in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Elections.
New Wave of Political Parties
Following the mass uprising of August 5, 2024, Bangladesh has witnessed the birth of more than 24 new political parties. The Bangladesh United Party (BUP) is the latest addition to this growing list of political entities aiming to reshape the nation’s political scene.
