Agreement for Waste-to-Energy Project
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) is set to produce green diesel and aviation fuel from waste. The initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable energy production and effective waste management.
On Wednesday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the CCC headquarters with Bringia Energy Global LLC (BEG) from the United States and Disrupted Hydrogen Technology (DHT) from Canada.

On behalf of CCC, the MoU was signed by Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain, while Ziaur R. Chowdhury, President of BEG and DHT, signed for the two companies.
Fuel Production from 3,000 Tons of Waste
According to the agreement, the companies will use 3,000 tons of waste per day from the city to produce around 45 million gallons of green diesel and green aviation fuel every year.
Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said,
“চসিকের বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনাকে টেকসই ও লাভজনক করতে এই প্রকল্প একটি যুগান্তকারী পদক্ষেপ।”
Translation: “This project is a groundbreaking step toward making CCC’s waste management sustainable and profitable.”
He added that once implemented, the project would turn waste into valuable resources, opening a new horizon in the country’s energy sector.

First-of-Its-Kind in Asia
Ziaur R. Chowdhury, President of BEG and DHT, said,
“এ ধরনের প্রকল্প এশিয়ায় এটাই প্রথম। আমরা সম্পূর্ণ নিজস্ব অর্থায়নে খুব দ্রুতই এর কাজ শুরু করব।”
Translation: “This is the first project of its kind in Asia. We will begin the work very soon with our own funding.”
He added that Chattogram could become a model city for green energy in South Asia.

The event was also attended by CCC Secretary Ashraful Amin, Country Coordinator of BEG and DHT Advocate Arif Moin Uddin Reza, and CCC Executive Engineer Ashikul Islam, among others.
