BNP’s International Affairs Secretary, Barrister Rumeen Farhana, has sharply criticized Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizens Party (NCP), accusing both of not wanting the upcoming national election to take place on time.
Speaking at three separate rallies in Joydharkandi and Telikandi areas of Brahmanbaria’s Sarail Upazila on Friday (October 31), Rumeen claimed that these parties prefer the continuation of the existing government so they can retain privileges and opportunities.
জামায়াতে ইসলামী ও এনসিপি নির্বাচন চায় না। তারা চায় যেই সরকার আছে সেই সরকারই চলুক। সরকারের সঙ্গে থেকে তারা যত সুযোগ সুবিধা আছে তা নিতে চায়।
Translate: “Jamaat and NCP don’t want elections. They want the current government to stay in power and enjoy all the benefits that come from it,” she remarked during her speech.
Rumeen warned that conspiracies are being plotted to postpone the polls originally scheduled for February. According to her, certain political groups are working behind the scenes to delay the election for their own interests, as they believe a postponed election could favor their positions.
নির্বাচন নিয়ে ষড়যন্ত্র হচ্ছে। ফেব্রুয়ারিতে যেন নির্বাচন না হয় সেই চেষ্টা হচ্ছে। বিএনপি ছাড়া অন্য দলগুলো নির্বাচন পেছাতে চায় তাদের লাভে। তারা সঙ্গে থেকে যতরকম সুযোগ সুবিধা আছে নিবে। কিন্তু আপনারা কোনো ধরণের ষড়যন্ত্রে পা দিবেন না। নির্বাচন ফেব্রুয়ারিতেই হতে হবে। ফেব্রুয়ারিতে যদি নির্বাচন না হয় সেটা আমরা মেনে নেব না।
Translate: “Attempts are being made to ensure that the election does not take place in February. Other parties want to push it back because it serves their interests. But we, the BNP, will not tolerate such schemes,” she warned.
She urged her party supporters to stay vigilant and not fall into any political traps designed to derail the democratic process.

As a nomination aspirant for the Brahmanbaria-2 (Sarail-Ashuganj) constituency, Rumeen also took a sharp jab at NCP’s young leadership. Addressing them directly, she said:
১৫-২০ বছরের পোলাপান এসে বলে তারা নাকি সব করেছে। তোমরা পোলাপান শুক্কুরে শুক্কুরে ২০ দিন তোমাদের বয়স হইছে। তোমাদের সাবালক হওয়ার বয়স যত আমাদের নেতাকর্মীদের জেল খাটার সময় এর সমান। তোমরা এগিয়ে যাও ঠিক আছে। কিন্তু বাবার চেয়ে এগিয়ে যাবে না।
Translate: “Some 15-20-year-olds claim they’ve done everything. But you children are barely 20 days old in politics. The age you take to grow up our activists have spent that long in jail. Move forward if you can, but don’t think you’ll surpass your elders.”
“নিজের ব্যবসার জন্য এখন নিজের ওয়েবসাইট — মাত্র কয়েক মিনিটে Storola দিয়ে!”
Her remarks drew loud cheers from BNP supporters gathered at the rallies, as she reaffirmed the party’s determination to contest the election within the announced timeframe.
Barrister Rumeen Farhana’s strong criticism of Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP reflects BNP’s growing frustration with smaller parties that it believes are indirectly benefiting from the current administration. Her message to party activists to resist conspiracies and insist on a February election underscores BNP’s readiness for political confrontation in the months ahead.
