The Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) has issued a show-cause notice to prominent physician Dr. Muhammad Jahangir Kabir, accusing him of using the FCPS (Final) degree title without actually completing it.
According to the notice signed by Dr. Md. Liaqat Hossain, Acting Registrar of BMDC, Dr. Kabir has been using the FCPS (Final) title beside his name in his professional activities despite not having officially earned the qualification.

Sources confirmed that Professor Abul Basar Md. Jamal, Secretary of the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS), formally notified the Council of the matter in an official letter. A photocopy of the letter was attached to the show-cause notice as evidence.
The BMDC referred to the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council Act, 2010 (Act No. 61), which clearly states that using any unrecognized or unapproved academic degree or professional title is a punishable offense. Sections 13 and 29 of the Act specify that violators may face up to three years in prison, a fine of up to Tk 100,000, or both.

The notice further directed Dr. Kabir to submit a written explanation within 15 days of receiving the letter, including his BMDC registration number, clarifying his use of the disputed title.
Sources added that Dr. Kabir has been conducting his medical practice using the FCPS title at his chamber located in Block–C, Aftabnagar, inside the Siraj Convention Center in Dhaka.
