New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani delivered a powerful speech after his election victory, directly addressing former U.S. President Donald Trump during the celebration.
“Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching. Four words for you: Turn the volume up,”
Mamdani said to deafening cheers from his supporters.
Trump’s Attacks and Mamdani’s Response
Zohran Mamdani has long been one of Trump’s public targets. The former president has often branded him a “communist” and vowed political retribution if Mamdani came to power.

Despite these attacks, Mamdani remained firm and used his speech to highlight unity and resilience in the face of division.
A Promise to Protect Immigrants
Born in Uganda, Mamdani emphasized his immigrant roots and made a strong promise to protect the city’s diverse population.
“New York will remain a city of immigrants, a city built by immigrants, and as of tonight, led by immigrants,”
he declared to loud applause.

Zohran Mamdani continued with a message of solidarity:
“So hear me, President Trump, when I say this: To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.”
During his speech, Mamdani also embraced his Muslim identity with pride and expressed deep gratitude toward his family.
“To my mother and father, I am proud to be your son. I am young and I am Muslim. I will never apologize for being Muslim,”
Zohran Mamdani said, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd.
Trump Reacts Online
While Mamdani delivered his speech, Trump took to social media to respond. Referring to Mamdani’s victory, he posted:
“…AND SO, IT BEGINS!”
The brief post hinted at more political confrontation ahead between the newly elected socialist mayor and the former U.S. president.
