Liberation War Will No Longer Be Used for Business
DUCSU Vice President (VP) Sadiq Kayem declared that in the new Bangladesh, there will be no more business or exploitation in the name of the Liberation War.
He said that during the fascist era, one particular group used the Liberation War as a political industry to benefit themselves and strengthen fascism through the Shahbagh movement.
“ফ্যাসিবাদী আমলে একটি দল সবসময় মুক্তিযুদ্ধ ইন্ডাস্ট্রি নিয়ে ফ্রেমিং করতো, ব্যবসা করতো। শাহবাগ প্রতিষ্ঠা করার মাধ্যমে তারা বাংলাদেশে ফ্যাসিবাদ কায়েম করেছিল। নতুন বাংলাদেশে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের ইন্ডাস্ট্রির কোনো ব্যবসা চলবে না।”
Translation: “During the fascist period, a group always framed and made business out of the Liberation War. By establishing Shahbagh, they established fascism in Bangladesh. In the new Bangladesh, this business will not continue.”
DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem also added that any attempt to commercialize the “July Spirit” will not be tolerated.
“জুলাই চেতনা নিয়ে যারা ব্যবসা করতে চাইবে, সেই ব্যবসাও চলবে না।”
Translation: “Those who try to make business out of the July Spirit will also fail.”
Politics Must Be Based on the July Spirit
DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem called on all political groups to follow the ideals of July, which he described as the foundation for building a new and just Bangladesh.
“জুলাই আকাঙ্ক্ষাকে ধারণ করে যারা নতুন বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণ করতে চাইবে—শুধু সেই রাজনীতিই চলবে। আমি সবাইকে অনুরোধ করব—জুলাইয়ের আকাঙ্ক্ষাকে ধারণ করুন।”
Translation: “Only those who want to build a new Bangladesh based on the July aspirations will succeed in politics. I urge everyone to uphold the July ideals.”
He made these remarks on Friday (November 7) while speaking at a reception ceremony for elected student representatives, organized by Islami Chhatra Shibir at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.

A Bangladesh Built on Sacrifice and Justice
The DUCSU VP reminded everyone that the new Bangladesh has been achieved through the sacrifices of martyrs and freedom fighters, and that their dream of an equal and just society must now be realized.
“শহীদদের আত্মত্যাগ ও গাজীদের সেক্রিফাইসের মাধ্যমে আজকে আমরা নতুন বাংলাদেশ পেয়েছি। শহীদরা যে জন্য জীবন দিয়েছে আমরা সেই বৈষম্যহীন ইনসাফভিত্তিক বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণ করা। সেটিই এখন আমাদের মূল দায়িত্ব।”
Translation: “We have achieved a new Bangladesh through the sacrifice of martyrs and freedom fighters. It is our main duty to build a fair and just Bangladesh for which they gave their lives.”
Rejecting Fascism and Corrupt Politics
Sadiq emphasized that New Bangladesh will not allow old corrupt and violent politics to return.
“নতুন বাংলাদেশের রাজনীতি হবে ওয়েলফেয়ার অ্যান্ড পলিটিক্স এন্টিক পলিটিক্স। নতুন বাংলাদেশে মাসল পলিটিক্স চলবে না। চাঁদাবাজির রাজনীতি চলবে না। টেন্ডারবাজির রাজনীতি চলবে না। নতুন বাংলাদেশে ফাও খাওয়ার রাজনীতি চলবে না।”
Translation: “Politics in the new Bangladesh will be welfare and ethical politics. There will be no muscle politics, no extortion, no tender manipulation, and no free benefits politics.”
He also accused some groups of trying to bring back fascism under the cover of “Mujibism.”
“যারা ফ্যাসিবাদের রাজনীতি ফিরিয়ে আনতে চায়, তারা দিল্লির বয়ান দেয়। মুজিববাদী বয়ানে তারা আবার ফ্যাসিবাদ ফিরিয়ে আনতে চায়। বাংলাদেশে ফ্যাসিবাদের যে করুণ পরিণতি হয়েছিল, তার চাইতে খারাপ পরিণতি তাদের হবে।”
Translation: “Those who want to bring back fascism speak with Delhi’s tone. Through Mujibist rhetoric, they are trying to restore fascism. But their fate will be worse than the fascists of the past.”
Call to Political Leaders and Criticism of the Interim Government
The DUCSU VP urged all political leaders and student groups to embrace the July ideals, saying that many veteran politicians seem to have lost that spirit.
He also criticized the interim government for not fulfilling its promises and for failing to deliver justice to the martyrs and victims of past regimes.
“এই সরকার শহীদের রক্তের ওপর বসেছে। তাদের প্রথম কাজ ছিল জুলাই শহীদদের আকাঙ্ক্ষা ধারণ করা। খুনি হাসিনা ও তার দোসরদের বিচারের আওতায় আনা। কিন্তু দেড় বছরেও হাসিনা ও তার দোসরদের বিরুদ্ধে একটি রায় পর্যন্ত সরকার দিতে পারেনি।”
Translation: “This government sits on the blood of martyrs. Its first duty was to uphold the July martyrs’ spirit and bring Hasina and her associates to justice. But even after one and a half years, not a single verdict has been delivered against them.”
Through his strong remarks, DUCSU VP Sadiq Kayem made it clear that the new Bangladesh will reject any form of political exploitation, fascism, and injustice. His message called for unity under the spirit of July to build a fair and equal nation for all.
