BNP Rally on National Revolution and Solidarity Day
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the interim government itself is creating a situation that may disrupt the election. He made the remarks yesterday (November 7) while speaking at a rally in front of the party’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka.
The event was organized by BNP’s Dhaka North and South city units as part of the observance of the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’.
‘Interim Government Creating Barriers’
Mirza Fakhrul expressed concern that those in charge of overseeing the election were now creating unnecessary complications.
He said,
“দুর্ভাগ্য আমাদের। অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার, যাকে আমরা সম্পূর্ণ সমর্থন দিচ্ছি, তারা আজ নিজেরাই একটা অবস্থা তৈরি করছে, যেন নির্বাচন ব্যাহত হয়। ওই রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো, যে কয়েকটা দল গণভোটের চাপ দিচ্ছে, তারাও আজ খুব পরিষ্কারভাবে বলতে চাই যে নির্বাচনকে বানচাল করার ষড়যন্ত্র করছে।”
Translation: “It’s unfortunate for us. The interim government, which we are fully supporting, is now creating a situation that may hinder the election. Some political parties pushing for a referendum are also clearly conspiring to derail the election.”

Demand for Referendum on Election Day
Reiterating BNP’s position, Mirza Fakhrul insisted that the referendum must be held on the same day as the national election scheduled for February 2026.
He said,
“আমরা খুব স্পষ্ট করে বলে দিতে চাই, গণভোট হলে নির্বাচনের দিনই হতে হবে। নির্বাচন ২০২৬ সালের ফেব্রুয়ারি মাসেই হতে হবে। অন্যথায় দেশের মানুষ মেনে নেবে না।”
Translation: “We want to make it very clear — if there is a referendum, it must take place on the election day. The national election must be held in February 2026; otherwise, the people of the country will not accept it.”
Massive Turnout in BNP Procession
After the rally, a large procession moved through Shantinagar, Malibagh, Mouchak, Moghbazar, and Banglamotor, ending at the Sonargaon Hotel intersection. Thousands of BNP leaders and activists joined the march, including Mirza Abbas, Abdul Moyeen Khan, and other central and associate organization members.

‘BNP Carries the Spirit of Reform’
In his concluding remarks, Mirza Fakhrul highlighted the legacy of BNP’s founding ideals and its vision for the future under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
He said,
“৭ নভেম্বরের চেতনা গণতন্ত্রের চেতনা, বিএনপির জন্ম হয়েছে সংস্কারের মধ্য দিয়ে। আমাদের নেতা প্রেসিডেন্ট জিয়াউর রহমান সংস্কারের সূচনা করেছেন; আর আজ তারেক রহমান নতুন সংস্কারের ৩১ দফা দিয়ে জাতিকে সামনে এগিয়ে দেওয়ার একটা ম্যাগনাকার্টা দিয়েছেন। আমরা সেই লক্ষ্যে এগিয়ে যাব, আমরা এই নির্বাচনে অংশ নেব। ইনশাআল্লাহ এই নির্বাচনে জয়যুক্ত হয়ে আমরা একটা নতুন বাংলাদেশ গড়ে তুলব।”
Translation: “The spirit of November 7 is the spirit of democracy. BNP was born through reform. Our leader, President Ziaur Rahman, initiated the reform process, and today Tarique Rahman has given the nation a Magna Carta through his 31-point reform agenda. We will move forward with that vision, take part in the election, and, Insha’Allah, by winning it, we will build a new Bangladesh.”
