In the notice, lawyer Abhi said,
Translation: From September 1, 2025, instead of giving free shopping bags after shopping, Aarong has been charging extra money from customers. This is against the law of Bangladesh. No business organization in the country is doing such activities. But for the past few months, customers have been forced to pay extra money for bags after purchasing products at various Aarong showrooms. As a result, many customers are carrying clothes by hand. Consumers are expressing their anger on social media.
He said,
Translation: This act of Aarong is harming consumers financially and mentally. At the same time, it is violating the standards of business ethics. Seeing them, other brand organizations in Bangladesh may also be encouraged to charge extra money for shopping bags from customers. Therefore, Aarong must immediately take measures to stop charging extra money for shopping bags.
The Department of Consumer Rights should also be instructed to investigate the matter and take necessary legal action against those responsible. In addition, it should be ensured that all buyers are provided with free shopping bags in the future.
