Police Use Disguise to Arrest Longtime Fugitive
In a dramatic operation in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal, police finally caught Swapan Mia (34), a wanted drug dealer who had been avoiding arrest for a long time. The arrest took place around 4:30 pm on Saturday (November 8) at his home in Kunjaban area under Sindurkhan Union No. 4.
“আপনার ব্র্যান্ডের ডিজিটাল পরিচয় শুরু হোক আজই – Storola-এর সাথে।”
Swapan Mia had been involved in drug trading and cross-border smuggling for years. Every time police tried to catch him, he managed to escape.
Police Faced Repeated Failures Before
Because Swapan had several local informants, he always got early warnings whenever police moved in. This made it nearly impossible for officers to capture him during previous operations.
The Clever Plan: Officers in Disguise
Under the direction of Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aminul Islam of Sreemangal Police Station, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sharafat Ali came up with a unique idea.
He disguised himself as a woman, wearing a burqa, while his fellow constable Md. Rokon Uddin dressed as her husband, wearing a panjabi and cap. Together, they entered Swapan’s house on a motorcycle, pretending to be a couple.
Once inside, they found Swapan lying on the bed, completely unaware of the trap. Before he could realize what was happening, the disguised officers quickly arrested him.

Police Officer Describes the Operation
ASI Sharafat Ali said:
“We had been trying to arrest drug dealer Swapan for a long time. He was very clever and used to flee at the slightest police movement. So, we changed our strategy and finally succeeded by conducting a disguised operation.”
Police Praise the Successful Operation
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Aminul Islam said:
“This successful arrest is commendable. No fugitive criminal can remain outside the law. No matter how clever they are, police will always find a way to bring them under justice.”
Police said that Swapan Mia will be presented before the court on Sunday (November 9) following his arrest.
