A senior diplomatic source confirmed that the meeting was held on Wednesday evening, where Dhaka formally communicated its objection.

Bangladesh’s Message to India

According to the source, Bangladesh told the Indian side that sheltering a fugitive accused of crimes against humanity and giving her media access to spread hatred and promote terrorism inside Bangladesh could damage the constructive relations between the two neighbouring countries. The Bangladesh foreign ministry said,

Translation: “Harbouring a notorious fugitive, giving her a platform to spread hatred, and allowing propaganda in support of terrorism inside Bangladesh are harmful to the constructive relations between the two countries.”

Translation: “Please immediately discontinue Sheikh Hasina’s access to the Indian media.”
