It has been officially announced that Saudi Arabia will observe the first day of Eid al Fitr on March 20, 2026. The announcement comes after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted, resulting in the completion of Ramadan as a full 30-day month.
Moon-Sighting Confirmation
The moon-sighting committee convened to observe and verify the appearance of the new moon. This process confirmed the end of Ramadan and aligns with Islamic tradition, where the beginning of a new month is determined through lunar observation.

Eid Holiday Announcement
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced that Eid holidays for employees in the private and non-profit sectors will begin on the night of Wednesday, March 18, and will continue for four days, in accordance with the Saudi Labour Law.
Official Statement
The ministry’s spokesperson, Mohammed Al Ruzaiqi, stated that the early announcement was made to provide clarity for both employers and employees. This allows organizations to effectively plan work schedules, ensure operational continuity in essential sectors, and safeguard workers’ rights to enjoy the festive break.
