A Dhaka court has issued arrest warrants against model and actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alisan Chowdhury in a case involving misappropriation of Tk 27 lakh, threats, and intimidation related to a business partnership dispute.

Why the Arrest Warrant Was Issued

According to court sources, Mehazabien and her brother were scheduled to appear before the Executive Magistrate Court-3 but did not attend. As they failed to appear, the court issued arrest warrants on 10 November. The next date for submitting the arrest execution report has been set for 18 December.

Details of the Complaint

The plaintiff alleged that Mehazabien Chowdhury, using a long-term acquaintance, persuaded him to give her Tk 27 lakh in cash and via bKash, promising to include him as a partner in a new family business. However, neither Mehazabien Chowdhury nor her brother took any steps to start the business.

When the plaintiff repeatedly asked for his money, they delayed payment and made excuses.

According to the case statement,

Translation: “Using her long-standing acquaintance with Amirul Islam, Mehazabien Chowdhury lured him with various promises, saying she would make him a partner in her new family business. Based on this, he gave her a total of Tk 27 lakh in cash and through bKash on different dates. Later, as Mehazabien and her brother took no initiative to start any business activities for a long time, Amirul Islam repeatedly asked for his money back, but they kept delaying by saying they would pay ‘today or tomorrow.”

Alleged Threats and Intimidation

On 11 February, when the plaintiff again asked for the money, he was asked to come to a restaurant near Hatirjheel Road on 16 March. There, Mehazabien, her brother, and 4–5 unidentified individuals allegedly abused him verbally and threatened him with harm. According to the case statement,

Translation: “Later, on February 11 in the afternoon, he again went to ask for the money. He was told to come to a restaurant beside Hatirjheel Road on March 16. When he went there on that day, Mehazabien Chowdhury, her brother and 4–5 other unidentified people verbally abused him using obscene language. They said, ‘Don’t ever come to our house again to ask for money. If we see you near the house again, we will kill you’.”

The plaintiff then went to Vatara Police Station for help, and the police advised him to file a case in court.
