Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alisan Chowdhury have been granted bail after surrendering before a Dhaka court on Sunday evening (16 November). They appeared with their legal counsel and submitted a bail petition, which the court approved after a hearing.

Previously, a case was filed by Amirul Islam, accusing the actress and her brother of misappropriating BDT 27 lakh. According to the complaint, Mehazabien allegedly convinced the plaintiff to invest in a new family business and took money through cash and mobile financial services.

However, no business initiative was reportedly taken afterward, and excuses were repeatedly made when repayment was requested.

Due to their absence on the scheduled court date, Executive Magistrate Court-3 Judge Afroza Tania issued an arrest warrant on 10 November. The court also set 18 December as the date to submit the execution report of the warrant.

The complaint further states that on 11 February of this year, when the plaintiff asked for his money back, he was instructed to meet on 16 March near a restaurant at Hatirjheel Road.

During the meeting, Mehazabien, her brother, and several others allegedly threatened and verbally abused him, stating he would be harmed if he attempted to reclaim his money or appeared near their residence again. The incident left the plaintiff in severe fear and distress.
