He added that the experience gave him valuable insights into state administration and enriched him personally and professionally.

  • Islamic Andolon

Describes Yunus as Humble and Friendly Leader
The former adviser praised Dr Yunus’s personality and leadership style, saying he was simple, humble, and approachable. He said Yunus maintained friendly communication with advisers and often addressed them informally to create a family-like environment.

Use of Technology and Fast Decision-Making

He noted that Yunus regularly communicated with advisers through WhatsApp and responded quickly to questions and requests. This helped speed up decision-making and maintain work efficiency. Dr. Khalid Hossain said Yunus never used harsh or commanding language with colleagues or officials. He said the 23-member advisory council was formed from people of different ideologies and professions, including:

  • Secular thinkers
  • Islamic scholars
  • Feminist voices
  • Lawyers, teachers, NGO workers, retired army officers, and bankers

Despite differences, they maintained mutual respect and teamwork.

Commitment to Democratic Transition

Dr. Khalid Hossain wrote that from the first day, Yunus was committed to transferring power to elected representatives through free and fair elections. He said Yunus wanted reforms in administration, elections, judiciary, and governance before holding elections, initially planning them for late 2026.

Yunus Had No Desire for Future Power

In a personal conversation, Yunus reportedly told him he had no interest in serving in any future government. He made it clear that after the interim government’s term, he would return to his previous work. He described Yunus as cautious and sensitive to public opinion, especially regarding controversial recommendations from the women’s reform commission.

Yunus reportedly said:

“কমিশন তো মাত্র তাদের রিপোর্ট জমা দিয়েছে। তাদের সুপারিশগুলো আমরা এখনো গ্রহণ করিনি।”
Translation: The commission has only submitted its report. We have not yet accepted their recommendations.

Protests Around Secretariat and Jamuna

The former adviser also mentioned that during the interim government’s tenure, there were several protests and demonstrations around the Secretariat and Jamuna residence. He said some movements were genuine, while others may have been politically motivated.
According to him, the government sometimes used water cannons and law enforcement measures to disperse protesters, while in other cases it chose dialogue and accepted some demands. Dr. Khalid Hossain’s emotional post presents Professor Muhammad Yunus as a humble, democratic, and reform-oriented leader who prioritized public opinion, teamwork, and a peaceful transition of power.
