Incident Took Place on 23 March Near Dinajpur
The incident occurred on 23 March at around 6:45 AM between Birampur and Phulbari railway stations in Dinajpur. While walking beside the railway track, Enamul Haque noticed that a large section of the rail line was broken. At the same time, a train was approaching the damaged area.
Banana Blossom Used as Emergency Signal to Stop Train
Realizing the danger, he immediately decided to stop the train. However, he did not have any red cloth to signal danger. He then tied the red part of a banana blossom to a stick and waved it as a warning signal. The train driver noticed his signal and successfully stopped the train before reaching the damaged track, preventing a major accident.
The heroic act created a strong reaction at the government level, and the Ministry of Railways directed officials to formally recognize the farmer’s contribution. As a result, the railway authorities arranged the ceremony to honour him for saving many lives through his quick thinking.
