Earthquake Record Again at Gazipur’s Bypile, Second Tremor in 24 hours

Less than 24 hours after the earthquake in Madhavadi, Narsingdi, the Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center of the Meteorological Department has recorded another tremor in Bypile, Gazipur. This tremor was recorded at 10:36:12 am today, Saturday. Its magnitude was 3.3 on the Richter scale.

Information confirmed by the responsible officer

Nizam Uddin Ahmed, a professional assistant at the Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, confirmed this information to The Daily Star. He said,

‘এটি একটি মাইনর ভূমিকম্প। এর উৎপত্তিস্থল বাইপাইল।’
Translation: “This is a minor earthquake. Its origin is Bipile.”

Strong earthquake the previous day

Earlier yesterday morning, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake was felt 13 kilometers east of Dhaka. Ten people, including two children, lost their lives in it. Among the deceased, four were in Dhaka, five in Narsingdi and one in Narayanganj. Apart from this, hundreds of people were injured in different districts.
