After a strong earthquake was felt in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, on Friday, panic has spread due to aftershocks on Saturday as well. In such a situation, Mustafa Kamal Palash, a meteorology and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada, has warned that there is a risk of a major cyclone forming in the Bay of Bengal.
Possibility of cyclone formation: Concerns are growing due to expert warnings
On Saturday (November 22) afternoon, he said,
বঙ্গোপসাগরে ঘূর্ণিঝড় সৃষ্টির প্রবল আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে। এটি আগামী মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহের মধ্যে আঘাত হানতে পারে।
Translation: There is a strong threat of a cyclone forming in the Bay of Bengal. It could hit within the first week of next month.
In a post on Facebook, he wrote,
‘আজ ২২ নভেম্বর পাওয়া সর্বশেষ আবহাওয়া পূর্বাভাস অনুসারে আগামী ২৫/২৬ নভেম্বর দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব বঙ্গোপসাগরে (আন্দামান ও নিকবার দ্বীপের দক্ষিণ পাশে) একটি লঘুচাপ সৃষ্টির আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে। এই লঘুচাপটি পর্যায়ক্রমে নিম্নচাপ, গভীর নিম্নচাপ ও সর্বশেষে ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে পরিণত হওয়ার প্রবল আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে।সর্বশেষ আবহাওয়া পূর্বাভাস অনুসারে সম্ভাব্য ঘূর্ণিঝড়টি ভারতের অন্ধ্রপ্রদেশ রাজ্য থেকে শুরু করে বাংলাদেশের চট্টগ্রাম উপকূলের মধ্যবর্তী যে কোনো স্থানের ওপর দিয়ে উপকূলে আঘাত করার আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে আগামী ১ ডিসেম্বর থেকে ডিসেম্বর মাসের ৪ তারিখ এর মধ্যে। সম্ভাব্য এই ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের কারণে ৩০ নভেম্বর থেকে ডিসেম্বর মাসের ৫ তারিখ পর্যন্ত বাংলাদেশের ওপরে হালকা থেকে মাঝারি মানের বৃষ্টিপাতের প্রবল সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।’

According to the latest forecast, the potential cyclone could hit anywhere between Andhra Pradesh, India, and the Chittagong coast of Bangladesh. The likely timeframe is from December 1 to December 4.

Researcher Mustafa Kamal Palash said,
নভেম্বর মাসের ২৮ তারিখের পর থেকে উত্তর বঙ্গোপসাগরের সমুদ্র উত্তাল হওয়া শুরু করার আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে। ৩০ নভেম্বরের মধ্যে উপকূলে ফেরার জন্য প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে রাখার পরামর্শ দেওয়া যাচ্ছে। ২৯ নভেম্বরের পরে নতুন করে সমুদ্রে মাছ ধরতে না যাওয়ার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে।
Translation: The sea in the North Bay of Bengal is expected to become rough from November 28. It is advised to be prepared to return to the coast by November 30. It is advised not to go fishing in the sea again after November 29.
Emergency instructions for fishermen
He warned sea-going fishermen that the North Bay of Bengal may become turbulent from November 28 onwards. Therefore, preparations should be made to return to the coast by November 30. Apart from this, it has been advised not to go fishing in the sea again after November 29.

The weather forecast also says,
২৮ তারিখের পর থেকে উত্তর বঙ্গোপসাগরের সমুদ্র উত্তাল হওয়া শুরুর আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে। ৩০ নভেম্বরের থেকে ৪ নভেম্বর পর্যন্ত টেকনাফ ও সেন্ট মার্টিন দ্বীপের মধ্যবর্তী সমুদ্র প্রচণ্ড উত্তাল থাকার আশঙ্কা করা যাচ্ছে। ফলে এই সময়ে পর্যটন-সম্পর্কিত ভ্রমণ থেকে বিরত থাকার পরামর্শ দেওয়া যাচ্ছে।Translation: The sea in the North Bay of Bengal is expected to become rough from the 28th onwards. The sea between Teknaf and St. Martin’s Island is expected to be very rough from November 30 to November 4. As a result, it is advised to refrain from tourism-related travel during this period.
