Police Not Happy with Current Uniform

The minister explained that many members of the police force are not satisfied with the current dress, and the government is working to resolve the issue. He said,

Translation: “The police force is not satisfied with the current uniform. The government is working so that Bangladesh Police can return to one of its traditional uniforms.”

Police Should Serve People, Not Politics

Salahuddin Ahmed stressed that police should not act as a political tool for any party and should instead work as a professional and public-friendly force. He said,

Translation: “Police are not the stick-wielding force of any particular party; police should be a friend of the people.”

He said the government’s goal is to free the police from political influence and develop it into a modern, service-oriented, and humane force.

Police Reform Commission Already Formed

The Home Minister also spoke about broader democratic reforms and said a Police Reform Commission has been formed to reduce political interference in law enforcement. At the parade, a total of 72 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) from the 43rd BCS police batch completed their training and are set to officially join the police service.
