A Bangladeshi expatriate, Hasim Uddin (44) from Shibpur, Narsingdi, was tragically killed after being hit by a stray bullet fired by Saudi police in Jeddah. The incident happened on the morning of 24 November.
Background of the Victim
Bangladeshi Worker Hasim was the son of the late Lehaj Uddin from Gorbaria village under Dulalpur Union. He leaves behind a wife, two sons, and a daughter.
Struggling to support his family as a rickshaw puller in Bangladesh, Hasim left for Saudi Arabia on 22 June 2025 with hopes of a better life. He worked as a city cleaner under Al Tejarat Company in Jeddah’s Sabiha area.
His family said he regularly kept in contact, including a conversation with his wife and children on the night of 23 November.

How the Incident Happened
On the morning of 24 November, while Hasim was at work, Saudi police reportedly fired at a thief nearby. A bullet missed the target and struck Hasim from behind, exiting through his abdomen.
Locals rushed him to the hospital, but he could not survive.
Family’s Reaction
Bangladeshi Worker Hasim’s wife Taslima Begum said she received the heartbreaking news around 1 PM (Bangladesh time) when a coworker called her. She said,
“তোমার স্বামী কাজ করছিলেন। কিছু দূরেই পুলিশ এক চোরকে লক্ষ্য করে গুলি করে। গুলিটি ভুলবশত তাঁর পিঠে লাগে।”
Translation: “Your husband was working. Police fired at a thief nearby, and the bullet mistakenly hit his back.”
His daughter Smriti Akter said the family has contacted the Narsingdi District Employment and Manpower Office as well as the Saudi company to bring Hasim’s body home as soon as possible.
