BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas has claimed that the present illness of the party’s chairperson Khaleda Zia is not a natural illness. He said she has become sick due to an “abnormal situation.”
Allegation of Slow Poisoning
Mirza Abbas said he learned from an Indian journalist that Khaleda Zia was slowly poisoned during the Awami League government. Said,
“এক ভারতীয় সাংবাদিকের মারফতে জেনেছেন যে, আওয়ামী লীগের সময় খালেদা জিয়ার শরীরে স্লো পয়জনিং পুশ করা হয়েছিল।”
Translation: “I learned through an Indian journalist that slow poisoning was pushed into Khaleda Zia’s body during the Awami League period.”
He made this claim on Saturday (29 November) at the prize-giving ceremony of the Ruposhi Bangla Photography Exhibition and Competition 2025, organised by the Bangladesh Photojournalists Association.

‘Her Condition Was Designed to Get Worse’
Mirza Abbas said an Indian journalist told him that Khaleda Zia’s health had been deliberately targeted. Said:
“উনি বললেন, আমরা কি নিয়ে লাফালাফি করতেছি। উনি তো বাঁচবে না দুই বছর… ওভাবেই ডিজাইন করা আছে।”
Translation: “He said, why are we so concerned? She won’t survive two years… it is designed that way.”
He further added that despite such a situation, Khaleda Zia is still alive by the mercy of Allah.
