An officer of the Small Farmers Development Foundation in Ishwardi, Hasanur Rahman Nayon, has left his government residence after being accused of killing eight puppies by throwing them into a pond.
The order to leave the house was issued on Monday (1 December). On Tuesday (2 December), he moved out with his family and shifted to a rented house.
UNO Confirms the Eviction Notice
Ishwardi Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter on Tuesday night.
He said that the officer was officially notified to leave the government residence and he complied the next day.
Livestock Office Preparing to File a Case
The Ishwardi Upazila Livestock Office is preparing to file a case regarding the killing of the puppies.
Upazila Livestock Officer Aklima Khatun said they were completing the necessary steps and would file the case with Ishwardi Police Station.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge ASM Abdun Nur stated that they were preparing the case statement.
Story of the Mother Dog and Her Puppies
For a long time, a mother dog lived near the UNO’s residence. People loved her because she was loyal, and she was named Tom.
About a week ago, Tom gave birth to eight puppies. On Monday morning, she was seen crying and running everywhere when she could not find her babies.
How the Puppies Were Killed
According to local reports, officer Hasanur Rahman Nayon and his wife allegedly put the eight puppies inside a sack and threw them into the pond in the Upazila Parishad area on Sunday night.
The next morning, the dead puppies were found floating in the pond. Later, they were buried beside the UNO’s residence.
Accused Officer’s Explanation
When questioned, Hasanur Rahman Nayon claimed that his wife became annoyed because the puppies were making noise near the door. Said,
“My wife got annoyed by the constant barking near the door, so she told the housemaid to put the puppies in a sack and throw them into the pond.”

Mother Dog Roaming in Grief
On Tuesday noon, the mother dog was seen wandering in front of the second floor of the UNO office. She kept returning to the same place repeatedly, as if searching for her lost babies.
Throughout the day, she roamed the Upazila compound in distress.
Mother Dog Becomes Sick; Livestock Officials Provide Treatment
After losing all eight puppies, the mother dog fell sick due to extreme grief and stress.
Livestock department officials have begun providing medical treatment to help her recover.
