NCP Leader Calls for Peaceful Politics

Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the southern region, said they want to continue peaceful politics even when facing opposition or criticism. He said,

Translation: “If someone throws stones at us, we will welcome them with flowers. If someone abuses us, we will greet them. If someone criticizes us, we will accept it with a smile. The rest is in Allah’s hands.”

He made these comments on Tuesday during NCP’s march and mass communication program in Bhani and Sultanpur unions of Debidwar, Cumilla.

“I Will Take the Bullets, But Won’t Leave My Workers”

Speaking to party workers, Hasnat Abdullah said he stands firmly with them no matter what happens. Said,

Translation: “If someone shoots, I will take the bullet, but I will not run away leaving my workers behind. People have not forgotten who was on the streets for the last 17 years.”

He alleged that many people who were absent during difficult times are now behaving like great speakers.

Criticism of Those Who Stayed Away During Movements

Hasnat Abdullah said that during past political struggles, many BNP leaders and activists were seen on the streets, but many influential figures were missing.

He also responded to mockery about NCP’s popularity. He said,

Translation: “People say I will get only 500 votes! If a new party of nine months gets even 500 votes, that itself is a big thing. I have no ancestral identity, no big family—people’s love is our strength.”

“I Am a Son of Ordinary People”

Hasnat Abdullah described himself as a leader who grew from the grassroots. He said,

Translation: “I have no money, I didn’t study abroad, I came from among you.”

Warning Against “Seasonal Actors” Before Elections

He urged leaders and activists to be cautious of those who suddenly appear before elections. Said,

Translation: “By looking at their past and present, you will understand who stands for the people and who only shows off.”

Accuses Absent Leaders of Labeling Others

Hasnat Abdullah claimed that some who were missing during tough political movements now try to label others as supporters of the Awami League. Hasnat Said,

Translation: “We have seen who was on the streets during the anti-fascism movement.”
