The Jatiya Sangsad has increased the number of seats allocated for students in Parliament Gallery. Previously, there were only 50 seats for students under the age of 12. Now, an additional 100 seats have been approved, allowing more students to attend and observe parliamentary proceedings.
Approval Following Minister’s Request
The decision came after a formal request from Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon, which was approved by the Speaker. The information was confirmed by the Ministry of Education on Friday (April 10).
Encouraging Democratic Learning
Officials believe this initiative will help students gain direct experience of parliamentary activities and better understand democratic practices. The Education Ministry said this move will introduce future generations to the functioning of parliament and strengthen their awareness of governance and politics.

Minister’s Statement
The minister said:
“শহীদ রাষ্ট্রপতি জিয়াউর রহমান শিক্ষার্থীদের নিয়ে নৌবিহারে যেতেন… আমি চাই, জেন-জিরা রাষ্ট্র সম্পর্কে জানুক, রাজনীতি নিয়ে সচেতন হোক।”
Translation: “Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman used to take students on educational tours so they could learn about the country’s resources and potential. As Education Minister, I also want Gen Z to understand the state and become aware of politics.”
Parliament Secretariat Welcomes Move
Parliament Secretary Md. Golam Sarwar Bhuiyan welcomed the initiative, saying that students visiting parliament will be briefed before sessions begin. This will help them learn about the architecture, history, and traditions of the parliament.
