Nahid Islam Warns Government Over Unfulfilled Commitments

The National Citizen Party (NCP) chief and opposition Chief Whip Nahid Islam has warned that the current government will soon face consequences for failing to keep its promises. He made the remarks while speaking at a conference of the Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation held at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday morning.

“Consequences Will Be Faced Soon”

Nahid Islam said:

“সরকারকে অচিরেই ওয়াদা ভঙ্গের পরিণতি ভোগ করতে হবে”

Translation: “The government will soon face the consequences of breaking its promises.”

He added that past political forces that broke promises did not end well and warned the same could happen again.

Call for Movement

He also said that political movements should not be limited to parliament alone. Nahid Islam stated that preparations for street protests and mass movements are necessary to ensure demands such as the “July Charter” and a referendum are fulfilled.

Demand for National Unity

He further claimed that the government failed to maintain national unity despite the ongoing global crisis and war-like situation. According to him, political groups linked with workers’ organizations are moving toward a unified platform for a “new Bangladesh.”
