Power Comes Only from Allah, Not from Any Newspaper
Supreme Court lawyer and popular talk-show figure Barrister A.S.M. Shahriar Kabir said that power does not come from any media or political group but only from Allah. He commented that not Prothom Alo or anyone else, but Allah is the true giver of power.
While speaking at the event, he emphasized that the real symbol that will remain both in this world and the afterlife is ‘Mizan’, meaning the divine scale of justice. He said,
Translation: “No one in the heavens or the earth has the power to stop this Mizan. On the Day of Judgment, only this Mizan will remain. There will be no Dhaner Shish, no Nouka, no Langol. We work with a symbol that will remain both in this world and the afterlife.”
Barrister Shahriar Kabir added that if Allah decides power will go to Jamaat-e-Islami, then it will certainly go to them.
The Event Organized by Islami Chhatra Shibir
The speech was given at a seminar and documentary exhibition organized by the Central Human Rights Department of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.
The event was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Wednesday morning.
Speakers included:
- Nurul Islam Saddam, Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir
- Engineer Sirajul Islam, former Central President of Shibir
- Brigadier General (retd.) Abdullahil Amaan Azmi
- Members of injured, disabled, and martyred families
Criticism of Political Surveys and Power Calculations
Barrister Shahriar Kabir strongly criticized the recent political survey results. He said,
Translation: “Look at what Prothom Alo did. They conducted a survey on 1300 people and said Jamaat will get 26% and BNP 63%. Even if they said 83%, the decision is not in their hands. The decision of who gets power is in Allah’s hands.”
He argued that surveys cannot determine political power and only Allah decides who will rule.

“I Speak Loud Because My Ears Are Tired of Lies”
Barrister Shahriar Kabir also explained why he speaks loudly in talk shows:
Translation: “After hearing lies for 17 years, my ears have become numb… So I pray to Allah to make my voice such that it reaches the ears, and passes through the ears to the heart.”
“Power Belongs to Allah; Votes Do Not Decide Everything”
He said that politics in Bangladesh is not about Awami League votes or Muslim League votes. They believe in the ultimate power of Allah, who gives authority to whom He wishes.
Sheikh Hasina’s Unexpected Departure
Referring to Sheikh Hasina’s sudden escape, he said:
Translation: “Did we know in 2024 that Sheikh Hasina would flee like this?… By Allah’s will the situation became such that MPs, ministers, even mosque khatibs left the country.”
Islamic Governance Is the Only Alternative
Kabir said there is no alternative left for Bangladesh except Islamic governance. If people do not find an alternative, they must accept it.
He said it is a religious responsibility to establish Islam.
Criticism Against Claims of ‘Bot Army’
He responded to allegations that Shibir is run by a “bot army.” He said,
Translation: “They say the bot army belongs to Shibir… a 30 lakh reward has been announced to kill me… In the talk show I said that hearing the name of Islam makes some people itch.”
However, he clarified that he should have used a softer word and called it “allergy to Islam.”
“Islam Was Absent After 1972, That’s Why Girls Couldn’t Study Freely”
He argued that during 1972–75, Islam was not practiced, and daughters from respected families could not safely attend school or college. He insisted that if Islamic rule is established, women will be protected anywhere at any time.
He said India does not want the establishment of such an Islamic system.
