The interim government has announced a Tk 5 million (50 lakh taka) reward for information leading to the arrest of the attacker involved in the assault on Sharif Osman Hadi, the convener of Inqilab Mancha.
The announcement was made on Saturday (13 December) after an emergency meeting of the Law and Order Core Committee held at the Secretariat.
Statement from the Home Adviser
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Home Adviser, said the government is treating the incident with the highest priority.

No Leniency for Attackers
The Home Adviser said law enforcement agencies have been instructed to arrest those involved without delay and bring them to justice. Said,
“এ হামলায় জড়িত কাউকে কোনো প্রকার ছাড় দেওয়া হবে না। আশা করছি, অতি দ্রুত সময়ের মধ্যে আমরা দুস্কৃতিকারীদের গ্রেপ্তার করে আইনের আওতায় নিয়ে আসতে পারব।”
Translation: “No one involved in this attack will be spared. We hope to arrest the criminals very soon and bring them under the law.”
The government believes the attack was aimed at creating obstacles to the upcoming national election. Said,
“হাদির ওপর আক্রমণের ঘটনা আসন্ন জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে বাধাগ্রস্ত করার অপপ্রয়াস বলে আমরা মনে করি।”
Translation: “We believe the attack on Hadi was an attempt to disrupt the upcoming national parliamentary election.”
The adviser added that the government will suppress any effort to obstruct or sabotage the election process.
Special Security for July Uprising Activists
The Home Adviser also said the government is committed to ensuring the safety of frontline fighters of the July mass uprising. Special security measures have already been taken for them.
He added that operations to recover looted and illegal firearms are ongoing, and “Devil Hunt Phase-2” will be launched immediately.
Reward Specifically for Attacker ‘Faisal’
The Home Adviser confirmed that the Tk 5 million reward has been announced specifically to capture Faisal, the attacker involved in the assault on Hadi. The government has called on the public to cooperate fully by providing information to law enforcement agencies.’
