Shahin Chairman Named as Mastermind
New information has emerged regarding the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, a front-line organizer of the July uprising and spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha.
Investigations indicate that the murder was planned and executed with involvement from Shahin Ahmed, also known as ‘Shahin Chairman’, former chairman of South Keraniganj. Intelligence reports suggest that he played a direct role in arranging money and weapons for the attack.
Multiple People Involved
Sources connected to the investigation say that Shahin Chairman was not acting alone. He had close coordination with several others, including former leaders of the banned Chhatra League. Authorities are increasing surveillance on several suspects.
Intelligence agencies claim that Abdul Hamid, former president of Gopalganj student league, helped the attackers escape from Dhaka to the border after the attack. He is now under investigation, and authorities have intensified efforts to arrest him. Evidence suggests that he communicated multiple times with the attackers before and after the killing.

Political Context Behind the Murder
Officials involved in the investigation say that Hadi’s active role in the July uprising and his political stance after 5 August last year angered the Awami League. According to internal party assessment, Hadi was considered a “major risk”, leading to a planned assassination.
Shahin Chairman’s Background
Shahin Ahmed’s political and criminal history is also under scrutiny. He was the president of South Keraniganj Thana Awami League for many years and is locally influential. Law enforcement documents describe him as a longtime criminal and arms holder. Allegedly, he had strong connections with former State Minister Nasrul Hamid Bipu and repeatedly won elections despite multiple allegations.
Current Activities and Investigation
According to locals, after the political changes on 5 August last year, Shahin Chairman crossed the border into India. Initially in hiding, he has become active again in recent months. Investigators found that he was using apps to communicate with sleeper cell members in Bangladesh to execute plans.
A law enforcement officer said:
“The investigation is being conducted very carefully, considering all aspects. We are optimistic that the mastermind and all planners of this murder will be identified very soon.”
Digital Evidence and Suspects
Investigators have obtained evidence from WhatsApp calls and messages linking Shahin Chairman to the murder. Information also confirms communication between the fleeing student league leader Hamid and the attackers. Several politicians are also on the suspect list, and arrested suspects are being interrogated jointly. Authorities are attempting to arrest two student league leaders in Keraniganj closely associated with Shahin Chairman.
