BNP Standing Committee member Salauddin Ahmed said,
“আমরা জুলাই ছাত্র গণঅভ্যুত্থান সংঘটিত করেছিলাম ডেমোক্রেসির জন্য। আমরা এখন দেখতে পাচ্ছি সারা দেশে মবক্রেসির রাজত্ব হচ্ছে। চেয়েছিলাম ডেমোক্রেসি, হয়ে যাচ্ছে মবক্রেসি।”
Translation : “We organized the July student uprising for democracy. Now we see the rule of mobocracy across the country. We wanted democracy, but it is turning into mobocracy.

He made these remarks while speaking at a protest rally of the Bangladesh Nationalist Jubo Dal in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, on Thursday (July 17).
Salauddin Ahmed asked,
“যারা গণঅভ্যুত্থানের শক্তিকে চ্যালেঞ্জ করার সাহস পাচ্ছে, তারা কারা এবং কেন? এই দুই কেনর জবাব হচ্ছে সরকারের নির্লিপ্ততা ও আইনশৃঙ্খলা নিয়ন্ত্রণে তাদের ব্যর্থতা।”
Translation : “Who are those who have the courage to challenge the forces of mass uprising, and why? The answer to these two questions is the government’s inaction and its failure to control law and order.”
Warning that attempts are being made to tarnish the BNP, Salauddin said,
“৫ আগস্টের পর অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার গঠিত হওয়ার পর থেকে আমরা এই সরকারের সফলতা কামনা করেছি। আমরা এই সরকারকে সব সময় সব ধরনের সহযোগিতা প্রদান করেছি। কিন্তু আজ গণঅভ্যুত্থানের শক্তিকে চ্যালেঞ্জ করা হচ্ছে। বিভিন্নভাবে পরিকল্পিতভাবে ইস্যু সৃষ্টি করে বাংলাদেশের ফ্যাসিবাদবিরোধী ঐতিহ্যবাহী সংগঠন বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দলকে কলঙ্কিত করার অপচেষ্টা লক্ষ্য করা যাচ্ছে। কারা এসব করছে? কারা ফ্যাসিবাদের পুনর্বাসনের পথ পুনরায় সৃজন করতে চাচ্ছে? সেই প্রশ্নের জবাব আমরা দিতে পারি। যারা ফ্যাসিবাদের পুনর্বাসন চায়, যারা গণঅভ্যুত্থানের শক্তিকে চ্যালেঞ্জ করতে চায় এবং বিভিন্ন ইস্যু সৃষ্টি করে গণঅভ্যুত্থানের শক্তিকে কলঙ্কিত করকে চায়, তারা।”
Translation : “Since the formation of the interim government after August 5, we have wished for its success and consistently offered all kinds of support. But today, the power of the mass uprising is being challenged. Through various planned ways, attempts are being made to create issues and defame Bangladesh’s traditional anti-fascist organization, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Who is doing this? Who wants to revive fascism? We can answer that question. Those who seek to restore fascism, challenge the power of the mass uprising, and create issues to tarnish the uprising’s strength are doing it.”
About the elections matter, he said,
“আমরা আশা করেছিলাম লন্ডন বৈঠকের পর প্রধান উপদেষ্টা যথাযথ প্রক্রিয়ায় ফেব্রুয়ারির প্রথম সপ্তাহে নির্বাচনের প্রস্তুতি জন্য নির্বাচন কমিশনকে মেসেজ বা ইনস্ট্রাকশন দেবেন; কিন্তু আমরা লক্ষ্য করলাম, আপনি আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর সঙ্গে বৈঠকে নির্বাচনের কথা বললেও এখনো নির্বাচন কমিশনকে কোনো ইনস্ট্রাকশন দেননি। আশা করব এ জাতিকে আশ্বস্ত করবেন, জনগণকে আশ্বস্ত করবেন।”
Translation : “We had hoped that after the London meeting, the Chief Adviser would give the Election Commission a message or instruction to prepare for the elections in the first week of February through the proper process. But we have observed that even though you discussed elections in meetings with law enforcement agencies, no instructions have yet been given to the Election Commission. We hope you will reassure the nation and the people.”
