The moon for the holy month of Rajab of the 1447 Hijri year has been sighted in the sky of Bangladesh today. Consequently, the counting of the holy month of Rajab will begin tomorrow, Monday, December 22. Accordingly, the holy Shab-e-Meraj will be observed across the country on the night of Friday, January 16, 2026.
This decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the meeting room of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram on Sunday evening (December 21). The meeting was presided over by the Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain.

The National Moon Sighting Committee made this decision after reviewing reports received regarding the sighting of the moon for the month of Rajab 1447 Hijri from all district administrations, the head office of the Islamic Foundation, divisional and district offices, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARRSO).
