Strong anger over the lack of progress in the murder case of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi was expressed on Friday by Fatima Tasnim Juma, spokesperson of the Dhaka University unit of Inqilab Manch. She sharply criticized the interim government, questioning its role and responsibility.

Fatima Tasnim Juma said that if citizens are forced to ensure state security, gather intelligence, and maintain stability, then there is no justification for keeping such a government in power with public money.

Protest March and Shahbagh Blockade

After Friday prayers, leaders, activists, students, and supporters of Inqilab Manch brought out a protest march from the Dhaka University Central Mosque. The march moved to Shahbagh intersection, where protesters blocked roads, completely stopping traffic.

The area soon became tense as slogans were raised repeatedly.

Remembering Shaheed Osman Hadi

At the start of her speech, Juma remembered Shaheed Hadi with emotion. She said:

“যে ভাইয়ের কণ্ঠে আমরা রাজপথে স্লোগান শুনতাম, আজ তাকে কবরে রেখে এখানে দাঁড়িয়ে কথা বলতে হচ্ছে। এটা পুরো ইনকিলাব টিমের জন্য অপূরণীয় শোক।”

Translation: “The brother whose voice we heard in street slogans—we now have to stand here after laying him in the grave. This is an irreplaceable loss for the entire Inqilab team.”

Fatima Tasnim Juma said that after August 5 many leaders emerged, but Osman Hadi never called himself a leader.

According to her, this humility made him a true leader of the people. Even after death, she said, Hadi remains their strength, slogan, and struggle.

Criticism of Government and Intelligence Agencies

Juma strongly criticized the administration, saying there is still no clear information about the killers’ location. She said,

“গোয়েন্দা সংস্থার দায়িত্বও আমাদের পালন করতে হচ্ছে। এমন একটা সরকারকে বাংলাদেশের মানুষের টাকায় বসিয়ে রেখে লাভ কী?”

Translation: “We are even forced to do the work of intelligence agencies. What is the benefit of keeping such a government in power with the people’s money?”

Warning Against ‘Mob’ Label

Juma warned against attempts to label the justice movement as mob violence.

She questioned why demanding justice for murder should be called mob behavior. She added that Inqilab Manch has no history of violence, and such allegations are being used to delay justice and elections.

Firm Declaration from Shahbagh

Fatima Tasnim Juma clearly stated:

“খুনি যত বড় শক্তিই হোক, তাকে বিচারের আওতায় আনতে হবে।”

Translation: “No matter how powerful the killer is, they must be brought to justice.”

She urged protesters to hand over anyone trying to create disorder to the police.

Ending her speech, she said:

“শাহবাগ সাক্ষী থাকুক— যতক্ষণ পর্যন্ত শহীদ শরিফ ওসমান হাদি ভাইয়ের বিচার না হবে, আমরা রাজপথ ছাড়বো না।”

Translation: “Let Shahbagh bear witness— we will not leave the streets until justice for Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi is ensured.”

She added that justice for Hadi will be delivered on the soil of Bangladesh, and it will be taken from Shahbagh.

Movement to Continue

Earlier, Inqilab Manch Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber announced that the blockade would continue until justice is ensured. He also said protesters are prepared to stay overnight at Shahbagh and continue hunger strikes if necessary.
