National Citizens Party (NCP) Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr. Tasnim Jara has announced that she will contest the parliamentary elections as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9 constituency.
She made this announcement in a post on her verified Facebook page this Saturday evening.
Tasnim Jara wrote,
“বাস্তবিক প্রেক্ষাপটের কারণে আমি কোনো নির্দিষ্ট দল বা জোটের প্রার্থী হিসেবে নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ না করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি। আমি আপনাদের এবং দেশের মানুষকে ওয়াদা করেছিলাম যে আপনাদের জন্য ও নতুন রাজনৈতিক সংস্কৃতি গড়ার জন্য আমি লড়ব। পরিস্থিতি যাই হোক না কেন, আমি আমার সেই ওয়াদা রক্ষা করতে দৃঢ়প্রতিজ্ঞ। তাই এই নির্বাচনে স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হিসেবে ঢাকা-৯ থেকে অংশগ্রহণ করব।”
Translation : “Due to the practical context, I have decided not to participate in the elections as a candidate of any particular party or alliance. I promised you and the people of the country that I will fight for you and to build a new political culture. No matter what the situation, I am determined to keep that promise. Therefore, I will participate in this election as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9.”
She said,
“একটা দলের প্রার্থী হলে সেই দলের স্থানীয় অফিস থাকে, সুসংগঠিত কর্মী বাহিনী থাকে। সরকার ও প্রশাসনের সাথে নিরাপত্তা বা অন্যান্য বিষয়ে আপত্তি ও শঙ্কা নিয়ে কথা বলার সুযোগ থাকে। তবে আমি যেহেতু কোনো দলের সাথে থাকছি না, তাই আমার সেসব কিছুই থাকবে না। আমার একমাত্র ভরসা আপনারা। আপনাদের মেয়ে হিসেবে আমার সততা, নিষ্ঠা এবং নতুন রাজনীতি করার অদম্য ইচ্ছাশক্তির পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে আপনারা যদি স্নেহ ও সমর্থন দেন, তবেই আমি আপনাদের সেবা করার সুযোগ পাবো।”
Translation : “When a party is a candidate, that party has a local office, a well-organized workforce. There is an opportunity to talk to the government and administration about security or other issues. However, since I am not with any party, I will not have any of those things. My only hope is you.” As your daughter, if you give me affection and support in view of my honesty, devotion and indomitable will to do new politics, then I will get the opportunity to serve you.”
