The Shahbagh Police Station in the capital has arrested a teacher on charges of insulting BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. He was arrested on Saturday (December 27) morning. The teacher’s name is ATM Shahidul Islam. He is said to be serving as the vice principal of the Gabtoli Technical Training Center in the capital.
Shahbagh Police Station Investigation Officer (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter to The Daily Campus. He said that he has been arrested on charges of insulting the BNP chairman. A case will be filed against him and sent to court under Section 54 and necessary legal action will be taken.

Police sources said that during the visit to the grave of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi in Shahbagh area this morning, Shahidul Islam kept shouting and calling Tarique Rahman an extortionist and terrorist. Seeing the matter, BNP leaders and activists present there arrested him and handed him over to Shahbagh Police Station.
