Dr Tasnim Jara, Senior Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has announced that she will contest the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election as an independent candidate. Along with this decision, she has also said that she is ready to return the money collected through election fundraising to donors who wish to take it back.
She shared this information on Saturday through a post on her verified Facebook page.
In her post, Jara wrote:
“প্রিয় খিলগাঁও, সবুজবাগ ও মুগদাবাসী, আমি আপনাদের ঘরের মেয়ে। খিলগাঁওয়েই আমার জন্ম ও বেড়ে ওঠা।”
Translation: “Dear residents of Khilgaon, Sabujbagh, and Mugda, I am a daughter of your community. I was born and raised in Khilgaon.”
She explained that her original dream was to serve people by entering parliament through a political party platform. However, due to the current political situation, she decided not to contest the election as a candidate of any specific party or alliance.

Jara further said:
“তবে বাস্তবিক প্রেক্ষাপটের কারণে আমি কোনো নির্দিষ্ট দল বা জোটের প্রার্থী হিসেবে নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ না করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছি।”
Translation: “However, due to the present reality, I have decided not to participate in the election as a candidate of any specific party or alliance.”
She reaffirmed her commitment to voters and political reform, stating:
“আমি আপনাদের এবং দেশের মানুষকে ওয়াদা করেছিলাম যে আপনাদের জন্য ও নতুন রাজনৈতিক সংস্কৃতি গড়ার জন্য আমি লড়বো।”
Translation: “I promised you and the people of this country that I would fight for you and for building a new political culture.”
Regarding her candidacy, she added:
“তাই এই নির্বাচনে স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হিসাবে ঢাকা-৯ থেকে অংশগ্রহণ করবো।”
Translation: “Therefore, I will contest the election as an independent candidate from Dhaka-9.”
On the issue of fundraising, Jara said that many supporters had donated money earlier for her campaign. As her decision has now changed, she respects those who want their donations back.
She wrote:
“আমার এই পরিবর্তিত সিদ্ধান্তের কারণে যারা ডোনেট করা অর্থ ফেরত পেতে চান, তাদের প্রতি আমার শ্রদ্ধা।”
Translation: “I respect those who wish to receive a refund of the money they donated due to my changed decision.”
She also mentioned that donations sent through mobile financial services will be refunded after transaction verification, and donors who sent money through banks will be informed about the refund process soon.
