Tajnuva Jebeen, Joint Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has resigned from the party. She announced her decision on Sunday through a post on her verified Facebook page.

In a part of her lengthy post, Tasnuva Jebin wrote:

Translation: “Today, I have resigned from the NCP. With a deeply broken heart, I am informing you that I will not be able to participate in the upcoming national parliamentary election.”

Tajnuva Jebeen expressed emotional distress over the timing of her decision, mentioning that her mother had travelled from Chattogram for her election campaign on the same day she was forced to step back. She expressed,

Translation: “What hurts the most is that my mother came from Chattogram today for my election, and today itself I was forced to make this decision.”

Tajnuva Jebeen acknowledged that many supporters may feel hurt by her move but stated that she believes this decision is right for her.

Regarding donations, she assured supporters that all funds would be returned:

Translation: “I will return the donations you sent, one by one. Please give me some time. I will refund every single penny.”

She expressed gratitude for the support and love she received and said she had never been involved in politics before July, when she joined street movements with hopes of change.

Tajnuva further said she will continue to raise her voice more strongly for democratic change in the country. She also noted that the space for a centrist, Bangladesh-focused political framework remains vacant and vowed to try to fill that gap. She wrote,

Translation: “The space for a centrist, Bangladesh-oriented new political arrangement has remained empty.”
