BNP’s International Affairs Associate Editor Barrister Rumin Farhana has commented that in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election, she has to fight independently against the tide of rice grains. She made this comment while submitting her nomination papers to contest the election for an independent position from Brahmanbaria-2 constituency on Monday (December 29).
In response to questions from journalists after submitting her nomination papers, Rumin Farhana said,
“আল্লাহর পরিকল্পনা মানুষের বোঝার বাইরে। আল্লাহর এই পরিকল্পনায় আমার বাবা (অলি আহাদ) ১৯৭৩ সালে আওয়ামী লীগের জোয়ারের বিপক্ষে স্বতন্ত্র নির্বাচন করেছিলেন। রাব্বুল আলামিন কি অদ্ভুত পরিকল্পনা, ২০২৬ সালে এসে ধানের শীষের জোয়ারের বিপক্ষে আমাকে স্বতন্ত্র লড়াই করতে হচ্ছে। আল্লাহর পরিকল্পনা ও তা বাস্তবায়নের পরিকল্পনা মানুষের বোঝার বাইরে। সুতরাং আমি দেখবো আল্লাহ কি পরিকল্পনা রাখেন।”
Translation : “God’s plan is beyond human comprehension. In this plan of God, my father (Oli Ahad) contested independently against the tide of Awami League in 1973. What a strange plan, Lord, I have to fight independently against the tide of rice grains in 2026. God’s plan and its implementation plan are beyond human comprehension. So I will see what God has planned.”
Expressing hope for her victory, she said,
” আপনারা দেখেন, প্রতিটা মানুষের চোখে কতটা আশা, ভালোবাসা, আস্থা ও বিশ্বাস। মানুষ যে ভালোবাসা ও আস্থা-বিশ্বাস আমার প্রতি রেখেছে, আমি যেন তার উপযুক্ত প্রতিদান দিতে পারি।”
Translation : “You see how much hope, love, trust and faith are in the eyes of every person. May I be able to repay the love and trust that people have placed in me.”

In response to a question about communication with the party, he further said,
“এতোবড় দল তাদের ব্যস্ততা অনেক বেশি। ৩০০ আসনের প্রার্থীরা আছে, জোটের সাথে আলোচনা আছে, তাদের এখন অনেক কর্মব্যস্ততা। আমারও অনেক কর্মব্যস্ততা। আমাকে মানুষের প্রার্থী হিসেবে জিতে আসতে হবে।”
Translation : “Such a big party is very busy. There are candidates for 300 seats, there are discussions with the alliance, they are very busy now. I am also very busy. I have to win as the people’s candidate.”
It is learned that the nomination papers were submitted at the office of the Sarail Upazila Executive Officer and Assistant Returning Officer of the district at around 2 pm today. Rumin Farhana was seeking BNP’s nomination from the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency consisting of Sarail and Ashuganj upazilas and Chandura and Budhanti unions of Bijoynagar upazila.
However, BNP has left the seat to Junaid Al Habib, the candidate of the alliance’s partner party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh. In this, this BNP leader is an independent candidate from this seat.
