Bangladesh Reveals Game-Changing Plans for Airbase in Lalmonirhat

The Bangladesh Air Force conducted its annual exercise yesterday, during which plans for a new 700-acre airbase in Lalmonirhat were revealed. Designed to enhance the country’s defense capabilities, the airbase will feature three key divisions: a combat operations division capable of hosting 70 fighter jets, a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) unit, and an aerospace technology university. Strategically located, the base will serve as a critical hub, with the capability to sever connectivity between India’s northeastern states and the rest of the country if necessary. Strategically located near the Chicken’s Neck corridor, the base has the potential to disrupt connectivity between India’s northeastern states and the rest of the country if required. With technical support from China, this project will become Bangladesh’s second-largest airbase in Asia, emphasizing its commitment to modernizing air power and fostering aerospace development.
