A major policy change for the IELTS on Paper test has been announced by the British Council, and it will take effect on January 1, 2025. Pens will be required for all written replies throughout the exam; pencils will no longer be permitted. The goal of this modification is to establish a safe and uniform testing environment. Candidates are not allowed to bring any personal writing supplies into the test room in order to maintain compliance. All test-takers will get pens when they arrive. Carrying personal writing instruments is one example of a rule violation that will be deemed malpractice and may lead to disciplinary action.
Institutions and test registration sites are encouraged to notify applicants of this change ahead of time. Applicants are urged to become acquainted with the updated rules in order to prevent problems on test day.
