The activist has shared details of the individual they believe is responsible for orchestrating the threats, calling for immediate action from the authorities. Meanwhile, human rights groups are urging the administration to ensure the safety of all students and activists who advocate for justice and democracy. Statement by Student Activist
“Approximately an hour ago, a leader of the banned student organization called me on WhatsApp and threatened to kill me.
In the call, this goon from the terrorist league said, “You protested as a BRAC University student, didn’t you? You were the coordinator of BRAC. You’re showing a lot of courage these days, aren’t you? You’re speaking against India? Don’t worry, you won’t be able to speak for long,” “Is Hasina dead? No, she’s not dead. We’ll deal with all of you,” “You haven’t seen the state of the others, you won’t be able to go to varsity like them ever again,” “How is everyone at your home? Don’t worry, no one at home will be able to live well without you.”
Then, he gave me a location about 200 yards from my house and said, ‘Your house isn’t here, don’t try to hide, we’re watching you, wait.’
Today, we held a protest against the killings of Shihan and Simanta and the false propaganda and aggression of India, and today I’m receiving death threats. It’s clear that this is a planned cold-blooded murder by India and the student league. Even though I’ve reported this to the DMP, I still urge the private university community to stay alert during these times, as it can happen to anyone.
I’m attaching the details of the main leader here.
We from PUSAB want to clearly state that we will give a befitting reply to this act of cowardice.
And to the administration, we want to say, stop wasting the country’s money by wearing those uniforms and leave. There are many unemployed people who are ready to take up responsibilities.”
This situation underscores the growing risks faced by student activists in the country and the urgent need for safeguards to protect their rights and lives.
