Jahangirnagar University (JU) has announced a reduction in the number of units for the 2024-25 academic session’s undergraduate (Honors) admission test. Instead of the usual 10 units, the admission test will now be conducted in 7 units. This information was confirmed by the Secretary of the Admission Committee and Deputy Registrar (Education), Syed Mohammad Ali Reza.
Additionally, several important changes have been made to the admission process, which are as follows:
Seat allocation for each shift will be done to address shift disparities.
The number of units has been reduced from 10 to 7. The new unit structure and admission fees are as follows:
A Unit: Institute of Information Technology (H Unit) merged with the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Faculty — 700 Taka.
B Unit: Social Sciences Faculty (unchanged) — 700 Taka.
C Unit: Arts and Humanities Faculty, with the Law Faculty and Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture merged — 700 Taka.
C1 Unit: Fine Arts and Drama Departments — 500 Taka.
D Unit: Biological Sciences Faculty (unchanged) — 700 Taka.
E Unit: Business Studies Faculty — 600 Taka.
And also Institute of Business Administration (IBA-JU) — 500 Taka.
The admission fee has been reduced as listed above for each unit.
The Liberation War veteran’s grandchild quota and VC quota have been abolished.
The pet quota has been reduced to a maximum of 4 students per subject.
The passing mark has been increased from 33% to 35%.
These changes are expected to bring significant improvements to the admission process, making it more transparent and efficient.
Syed Mohammad Ali Reza also mentioned that, due to these unit changes, the application period for the admission test may be postponed to January 1-3.
