JU Chhatra Dal gets convening committee mostly non students

In a drama that could have come straight out of a soap opera, students were left looking confused when JU’s Chhatra Dal (JCD) announced a new 177-member committee. The commitee of the JCD is chairged by Jahir Uddin Babor of the batch of 39 which are 2009-10 and Wasim Ahmed Anik of the 40th batch which is 2010-11 and this change came in during January 10th 2022’s party elections, that was a move that has drawn heavy censure.

From out of a group of students, one sarcastically remarked, “It’s like family get together sort of event, where the great granddads are the ones now in charge in running things.” For many students holding onto this last stand, there is a ‘generational chasm’ in existence. One of the JCD leaders said that the situation was akin to ‘driving a Ferrari with a 90s engine’ while a leader in the CD said the same about his yellow cab car.

Babor the convener chastised and derided all worries saying that the “committee was temporary” with the promise of having the necessary reforms brought about. “He has been here since the first season of Breaking Bad,” said one of the students in a light joking manner.

On the other hand, critics argue that the decision excludes setting of the aims of the reform with the skipping of several generations of leadership. “This is not development in any respect, it is the type of deed that shows you a time capsule,” he remarked on his discontent.
