First made-in-India chip will be out in 2025. said India’s Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The minister gave credence to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for developing a very strong and eco-friendly semiconductor industry in the country in a very short time.
The minister said “MoUs with 104 universities are scheduled to work on this project. Their course curriculum is being revised; there is a lot of focus on design with a separate investment scheme.”
Minister Vaishnaw spoke significantly on the crucial role of conviction and appropriate policies in achieving this feat and added that the Union government had approved the setting up of three semiconductor units in India.
Vaishhnaw speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum added that PM Modi launched a semiconductor policy in January 2022 and when he met top representatives of the industry they were all surprised about how this much of work could be done in such a short notice of time. After forty years, India set up it’s first factory to produce.
semi-conductors known as chips but failed to make a mark. But it got a new start after Narendra Modi laid the foundations of 3 manufacturing and assembly facilities at Dholera and Sanand in Gujarat and Morigaon in Assam.
Narendra Modi has set many goals to move forward to the country’s semiconductor sector with the latest and biggest target being to grow the country’s electronics sector from $155 billion today to $500 billion by 2030.
